So why do we still have monkeys?
I'll be honest — I've stopped more than one conversation/debate over evolution and creation with one question:

"If evolution is a true theory, and we all evolved from monkeys, then how is it we still have monkeys?"

Not once have I pulled that ace card and not at least drawn a pause from my foes in the argument. Often, I'll be accused of "oversimplifying" things or "not really understanding science or evolution," but no one has yet to really come back with a fact-based answer. More ...

Tennis Tradition
STANHOPE -- The clock ran out -- literally -- on Southern Nash's hopes during last year's Class 3-A State Boys Tennis Playoffs.

Southern was defeated after reaching at least the Elite Eight for the fourth straight year, but there was a difference this time around.

SN was topped 5-4 by a Rocky Mount club that the Firebirds had handled twice during the regular season. More ...

Firebirds roll past FHS boys
STANHOPE -- Franklinton took all of five seconds to make the first move during last Friday's non-conference baseball matchup at Southern Nash.

That's how long it took Landon Vick's leadoff blast -- on the first pitch of the game, no less -- to sail over the left-field fence.

But while the Red Rams were quick starters, Southern proved to be a fast finisher en route to claiming a 12-2 home victory. More ...

Pitt Is It For SN
STANHOPE -- All along, Brittany Alford and Pitt Community College seemed to be a perfect fit.

Pitt, located just south of Greenville, offered classes in radiology -- the field Alford hopes to get into upon graduation.

And the Lady Bulldogs also boast one of Region X's top volleyball programs -- a huge caveat considering the fact that Alford was one of the best spike performers this season in the NEW-6 Conference. More ...
