Am I being profiled for using a bank card?
There has been quite a stir caused by Arizona’s proposed new immigration law. It seems that many people — including President Obama — feel that the law would be very unfair because it would cause racial profiling.
That is to say, paraphrasing what the President said, “...that little children out for a cone of ice cream with their parents might get plucked off the street ...” I suppose, keeping with the current Administration’s mantra, that former President George Bush would be the one doing the plucking. More ...

Here’s to the next 30 years!
By this time next week, I will be a year older.
I will no longer be in the 20-something age bracket and that is quite painful to me. It hurts to even think that in less than a week, I will turn the big 3-0.
I’ve been pondering why this birthday is so stressful for me. Many people have told me that 30 is a great age, that I’m still young, blah, blah, blah. I don’t believe it. More ...

We had high hopes for shops that would be open both day and evening hours to bring traffic to downtown after hours. More ...

Watch out for door-to-door salesmen
Often we receive calls about door-to-door salesmen selling various products or services.  I want to remind all our citizens that these salesmen are required to have an ID card issued by the Nashville Police Department.  Always ask them for that card.  If they cannot or refuse to show it to you, please call the police department at once.  Before we issue a card, we try to do a background check on the salesman and also take a look at the company they work for.   If they cannot show you the card, they either have not applied for it or they were denied. More ...
