STANHOPE -- Several familiar faces served as a source of comfort for Head Coach Brian Foster during Monday’s opening day of high school football practice at Southern Nash.

Northern schedule finalized
RED OAK -- Northern Nash will begin its 2010 boys soccer schedule with three road matches -- including a season-opening contest Aug. 17 at Bunn.

Nash squads slated for Brittany
WILSON -- Five Nash County schools will help headline play at the The Brittany For the Boys VI Soccer Tournament.
The event will be held Aug. 27-28 at Gillette Park in Wilson. Tickets will be available at the gate.
Northern Nash will be the first county squad in action, as the Knights will play a Friday night match at 6 p.m. versus West Brunswick on Field Four. More ...

ZEBULON -- Jake Kahaulelio had three hits, while Luis Terrero and Chris Denove drove in two runs apiece to lead the Carolina Mudcats to an 8-5 win over the Jacksonville Suns in the finale of a five-game series on Sunday afternoon at Five County Stadium in a Class AA Southern League baseball showdown.

A BIG DAY OF EXCITEMENT AT THE N-HSL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Nash-Halifax Swim League capped off another strong season with its annual championships last Saturday morning at the Harrison Family YMCA Pool in Rocky Mount. Nash Rec was able to successfully defend its crown, but only by three points over Roanoke Valley. Among the participants in the event was (above) an unidentified Nash Rec swimmer.
