A Nashville woman is recovering after being attacked by two dogs while jogging on Sunday afternoon.
Shannon Frye was jogging along South NC Highway 58 just before 2 p.m. when two pit bulls attacked her. She was taken to Nash General Hospital, where she was treated for injuries to her arm and face. More ...

Recycling change saves Spring Hope money
The Town of Spring Hope will renew its contract with Waste Industries but will move recycling back to every other week. In addition, town staff will pick up yard waste.
The town’s contract with Waste Industries will expire on July 31. The town began contracting with Waste Industries last July at a cost to the town of $16.26 per household and business. More ...

Town, county nix Nixle due to hefty price tag
A free service offered to local law enforcement agencies is now charging, forcing agencies to find other ways to get information out to the public.
Nashville’s Police Department first signed up for the Nixle messaging service in late 2009. The Nash County Sheriff’s Office began the program in January of this year. More ...

Moore is Sheriff’s Employee of Year
The Nash County Sheriff’s Office surprised Lt. Eddie Moore at a recent meet and greet for Sheriff Dick Jenkins by presenting him with the first ever Joe Mercer Employee of the Year Award.
The award is named after Joe Mercer, who was with the Sheriff’s Office from 1975 until his retirement in 2000. Mercer served as a School Resource Officer at Northern Nash High School. More ...

Fire injures Battleboro firefighter
A Nash County Firefighter was injured while battling a house fire that killed several puppies and destroyed a Battleboro home.
The fire started just before 6 a.m. on last Wednesday, April 20 at 5684 Hubbard Road in Battleboro.
Residents of the home said they had smelled smoke and got up to investigate and found the kitchen and hallway area heavily involved in fire. The family escaped the fire through a window in the bedroom. More ...

Two arrested for breaking and entering
The Nash County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man and woman for breaking into the L&L Store on Red Oak Road on Tuesday.
Deputies responded to the L&L at the intersection of Red Oak and Reges Store Road on Tuesday, April 26 in reference to a breaking and entering in progress. A witness described the suspect vehicle that had left the scene and deputies spotted the vehicle while in route to the call. More ...

Wilson, Raleigh oppose Environment Impact Statement
Not everyone supports the recent Environmental Impact Statement recently released by the Wooten Company.  Both the City of Wilson and the City of Raleigh have filed comments with the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NCDENR) indicating serious concerns about how the Sanderson Farms project (code named “Project Baseball) will impact the water quality in the Neuse River Basin. More ...

RESCUE NEEDED – CRITICAL - URGENT – Horrible words.  Why?  Because it means there aren’t enough adopters coming to the Shelter.  It means that we have to find a Rescue or the pets will be “Put to Sleep” (PTS).  Let’s be real.  They will kill them.  In fact, we have rescues coming just as quickly as we can find them to do so, even before people get a chance to adopt.  There is a short amount of time to get them out before their time runs out. More ...
