Southern will host campers
STANHOPE: The annual Southern Nash Ladybirds Softball Camp is scheduled for June 16-17 at Ladybird Field on the Southern Nash High School campus.
The event will run from 8-11 a.m. each day. Ages 5-18 are welcome to participate.
Cost for the camp is $25 per person. More ...

Bulldogs Back On Field
FARMVILLE -- Nash Central High School’s varsity baseball team almost had its spring break completely off.
Its lone contest during that period entailed a road trip to Pitt County last Friday for the third time this season.
The Bulldogs visited Farmville Central and came away with a 10-3 victory. 
This triumph moved Nash Central to 13-4 on the regular season. More ...

A FITTING TRIBUTE TO VICTOR MAY. Friends, relatives, family members, well-wishers and fellow drivers -- they all showed up recently to pay their respects to County Line Raceway legend Victor May, who was killed last week in an automobile accident. The personable May was considered one of the best-ever drivers at County Line.

LUCAS, KY. -- Weather stole the headlines on the third and final day of the Southern Divisional Fishing Tournament, which was held two weeks ago in the Bluegrass State.

NCWC honors top athletes
ROCKY MOUNT -- North Carolina Wesleyan’s Athletic department hosted its 46th annual Awards Ceremony recently, celebrating the accomplishments of both individual athletes as well as Bishops sports teams from the 2010-2011 season.
The female Student Athlete of the Year was in a familiar place once her name was called and she stood with her plaque and round of applause.
