On this first Sunday after Easter, Peachtree folks gathered to worship.  Pastor Whitehouse’s sermon was titled “Can You Begin by the Spirit and Be Completed by the Flesh?”  It was based on Galatians 3: 1-9.  The central question of the entire letter from Paul to the church at Galatia is this: “Are we saved by what we do or by what Christ has done for us?”

Six year old’s take on life as he knows it
Well folks, I’m back again this year to take over Daddy’s spot writing this story. It’s kind of funny, because a lot of people say that when he writes about politics, it is a lot like the way 6-year-old thinks. So, I just want to make sure you know it is me, not him. Plus, I am hoping the newspaper sends me the bazillion dollars they pay him every week to write this column. I could use the money. More ...

Breed gets bad rap due to irresponsible owners
Last week I had to write a story that upset me.
A lady, who was jogging, was attacked by two dogs. These two dogs were pit bulls who are apparently allowed to roam freely around the neighborhood.
If you are a regular reader of this column, then you know that I have two American Pit Bull Terriers. They are a part of my family and yes, they will continue to be a part of my family even after I have my little boy in June. More ...

Library employee says goodbye
As many of you know my time at Cooley Library is coming to an end. I would like to say a big thank you to all the citizens of Nashville and Nash County that have made my job a pleasure. I have met some fantastic people while I’ve been here and you have taught me so much. It has been so good to get to know each of you and watch all of your children grow. I will take many things with me, but the things I will treasure are all the lessons about life and love. More ...

Reader responds to pit bull attack
Ok, I just had to respond to the article about the “pit bull attacks.” I have to wonder if these dogs are spayed/neutered or do they live most of their lives confined or on the end of a chain. I’m so sick and tired of people who make such a huge issue with dog bites, yet nobody ever hears the whole story. More ...

It came to my attention a short time ago that Nashville had lost one of its greatest citizens, Mrs. Mildred Hinton.    I am sorry to say my contact with some of my Nashville friends has not been as frequent as I would like the past few years, so I only recently learned of her passing.     Mrs. Hinton, however, will never be forgotten. More ...

Police chief seeks information regarding anonymous letter
Today I received a letter that greatly concerned me.  I received an anonymous letter about a woman apparently being abused by two men in her life.   From the one paragraph written, it appears that the abuse has been going on for many years.   What concerns me is that we have no way of knowing who this victim is or where she lives, as we were only given a last name, apparently of one of the men.   The writer seems to be very concerned but did not give us enough information to work with. More ...

Rain hinders prep baseball schedule
NASH COUNTY -- When it came to playing high school baseball in Nash County last week, it was pretty much a wash, literally, as storms dominated the week and play on the county’s high school fields was limited to just one game.
