Dispute sparks gunfire
A family dispute between a man and his nephew led to one man being shot.
According to Investigator George Bottoms, of the Nashville Police Department, 40-year-old Stewart Gray, of Apache Drive in Nashville, and 22-year-old Kenneth Beckles, of Arrowwood Drive in Nashville, got into an argument around 9:30 p.m. on February 27. More ...

Census says no to town
The Town of Nashville’s challenge against the most recent Census figures was not upheld, Town Manager Preston Mitchell told council members last Tuesday at the board’s regular meeting.
The 2010 Census results, which were released in mid-2011, show Nashville’s population at 5,352, which is a significant increase from the 2000 Census figures, which show the population at 4,417. More ...

Commissioners are not listening to the voters of Nash County
Nash County was dealt a devastating blow at the last public meeting of the Nash County Commissioners on March 5.  Five of the county commissioners were determined to vote in favor of a resolution to approve a Sanderson Farms chicken processing plant in Nash County.  Kudos to Billy Morgan and Wayne Outlaw who knew the facts and voted in opposition. More ...

In 1968 I left Viet Nam and completed the law enforcement training at NCC. Even in 1968, NCC had a balanced curriculum that matched the needs of the community. We need that same balance of training for jobs now and the way for us to get that balance now is to vote for the Bond Referendum in May. Training, certification and recertification at NCC will determine one’s value in the job market. More ...

When I was growing up, nobody fixed their pets unless there was a problem.  Well, these days, we DO have a problem.  There are so many pets that they are DYING at the Shelter.  Just this week, several litters of puppies were received.  One owner said that their puppies were from the 2nd litter.  The thing is, they had an appointment to get the dog fixed and then the dog got pregnant again. More ...
