On Sunday morning Peachtree folks met for a July 4th worship celebration.  Pastor Whitehouse greeted those present and led them in a pledge of allegiance to the American flag.  The choir sang “A Prayer for America.”

BEULAH COMMUNITY NEWS

As I looked around the Beulah Community last week, I did a lot of remembering how things used to be, when us older generations were kids here. The houses were in sight of our neighbor but not as they are today. Nearly every home had farmers with small farms and they all helped each other with planting and harvesting the crops. This included the children who all worked in the summer and often having to take off a few days from school when needed.

In pursuit of July Fourth facts, clarifcations

This week marks the 238th birthday of the United States of America.
While there are plenty of people out there who delight in pointing out the many faults and mistakes of this fine country, it is still the best attempt man has put out there in government. We are fortunate to have been born or emigrated here.
To commemorate July Fourth, the Soapbox Research Team has compiled some facts and found some interesting tidbits that have morphed into misconceptions over the years regarding our country’s history.

Come out to celebrate the Fourth in Castalia

Parades are always a fun thing to cover, unless of course, you are a reporter trying to take pictures through a camera lens.
In that case, parades are a bit scary. Some people find it amusing to toss (baseball throw) candy at me (not to me but at me) and I have, at times, been popped in the head while snapping away during a parade.
Luckily, I have a good sense of humor. It’s just one of the many hazards of my job, I suppose.

Nash County Animal Friends’ Notebook

Our hearts break to say this. We receive a lot of messages thinking we are miracle workers. We are not. We struggle every day to do what we do and sometimes cannot even do what needs to be done. We have to say SORRY, we cannot help a LOT. In part, it is due to time, resources, funds and ability. It is also because we cannot be all to all and if we try, we will not be able to do any one thing well. We never are caught up trying to do what we do.
