Luke's Word for the Week

"At some point we must move from the cuteness of the manger to the gruesomeness of Calvary." A Pastor from Charlotte said this and I agree with him - there is danger in thinking that all stays silent concerning this King. The baby grew in wisdom, changed the world, and went to a cross to die and rise again for our salvation and our sanctification.

PEACHTREE COMMUNITY NEWS

This being the fourth Sunday of Advent, the candle of 'Love' was lit in the advent wreath. It is to remind us that that the light of Jesus shines for everyone. As the reading by the congregation reads, "To the hungry- to the weak- to the very young and the very old- to those who suffer or are in pain!" Jesus came as the Messiah to all.

Word for the week

We live in an adrenaline driven world. This is true in our work and when we wind down. It is true in our avocations and athletics. Adrenaline enters our blood streams to heighten our awareness and focus our energies to help us through the fights of life. We depend on adrenaline at work and at play. In fact, we can easily become addicted to the sense of wellbeing and euphoria this chemical induces.

Maybe you really can argue with technology!

Just a few more days remain of 2017 which means it's time for everyone to make their New Year's resolutions.
I've given up on the whole resolution deal. It's too much pressure and I fall into the category with all the other folks who make resolutions to do things and only stick with it for January and half of February and then go back to December living.

NC Ready For League

ROCKY MOUNT -- Nash Central High School's journey into the hoops unknown will officially begin January 2 on the road at SouthWest Edgecombe.
That contest will be Central's first in the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference after a long stint in the Class 3-A Big East Conference.
Casual observers might be tempted to think that the Bulldogs' new league might provide easier sledding, considering it is in a lower classification than the Big East.
