Nash County man dies in officer involved shooting

An officer-involved shooting occurred in the early morning hours in the 1200 block of Maudis Road in Bailey Saturday.

Several Nash County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to this location regarding a call for service involving a male subject.

During an encounter, shots were fired. The man died at the scene.

The State Bureau of Investigations has been asked to conduct an investigation into the incident.

Nash County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Brandon Medina released the following statement, "A citizen of our community has lost his life, a family is mourning, and our law enforcement agency is deeply saddened as a result of what has happened. Please join us as our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this tragic incident.".
