~ 99+% of the dogs and cats in Shelters are not fixed! Cats & kittens (especially outdoor/feral ones) plus adult dogs & puppies DIE at the Nash County Animal Control Shelter. It is not the fault of the Nash County Animal Shelter staff. It is the fault of people with pets that aren't fixed (spayed/neutered). There is only so much space for unwanted animals.

Salvation changed my view of parenting

I am a product of a blended family. In other words, as a child I lived under the same roof with a parent and a stepparent, both of whom were rearing children of their own.
Now, I am now the head of a blended family. And while my whole perspective about it has changed, one thing hasn't: Harmony in a blended family is often difficult to sustain.

Word for the Week

One of my favorite parables, one that we are likely all familiar with, is "The Parable of the Good Samaritan." The reason being is because every time I read this story, the Spirit illuminates the words in a new and different way. We all know who the star of the show is in this parable (hint: it's in the title) but I want to take a minute to reflect on the other guys that don't always look so great. When we really get down to it, I think we'll find that "the other guys" can be the more relatable characters.

Intersections: God and Life

Ideas and actions have consequences. Christian's must be different in the way we behave (actions), and just as important, Christians must be different from the world in the way we think. Our thought processes should be different because actions follow thinking (Philippians 4:8).
The apostle Paul knew the gospel transforms our thoughts and our actions.

What has happened to real news?

Maybe it is just the fact that I'm getting older.
After all, I did complain after one of my boys painted a giant "X" in the middle of the yard the other day [too complicated to explain].
I also went out of town for a couple of days and did as close to nothing for 48 hours as is humanly possible. I rated it as one of my best vacations ever.

Sidestep scams as you travel this summer

I hope many of you are looking forward to some relaxing travel this summer. But whether you're planning on enjoying the heat or evading it, nothing will ruin your vacation faster than a travel or rental scam. Here are some things to keep in mind when you're vacationing this summer.
