COVID-19 cases trend downward, flu shots highly recommended

Nash County Health Director Bill Hill reported Tuesday that trends in Nash County, similar to the state, are moving in a better direction. However a growing concern is possibly seeing a twindemic in the fall and winter months with flu cases projected to rise.
Hill said the flu virus was so minimal last year due to the shutdown and very little social interaction that immunity will be fairly low moving into this year's flu season.

Nash County Animal Friends' Notebook

MICROCHIPS are AMAZING! It is the ultimate pet return tool. Recently we had a dog come into with one (without a tag). We called the registered owner, who then let the current owner know where their dog was, and he was reclaimed!
If you get a pet that is chipped, all you need is a paper showing transfer of ownership to transfer the pet's chip. It will speed up the process.

Advice for the born-again Christian

One of the things I enjoy most about going to church is seeing someone accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. My wife and I were discussing what churches and Christians should do to follow-up with these new converts. Robbie said, "You need to give a little advice for the new Christian in one of your devotions".
As I thought about what she said, I remembered how hard I struggled to find my way.

Intersections: God and Life

Spiritual disciplines, like prayer, are a means through which God works in us to grow us spiritually. As 1 Timothy 4:7-8 says, "train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come." Through practical and intentional steps, I have been able to invest in prayer so that I might walk in godliness and strengthen my relationship with God. Here are some of those steps.

Holy and Whole: Patterns for Life Together

I can't get over the fact that Jesus looked at Peter and said, "Get behind me, satan."
This isn't a G-rated story that one could nicely fit into a Children's Storybook Bible. No, this is one of those more in line with the tough stuff of Scripture - those stories that we'd perhaps rather omit from Scripture due to their offensive language and exclusive claims.

People still want to be sociable, but not in person

It was an awkward moment to be sure.
I walked into the men's restroom. As I went about my business, a seated customer spoke up.
"What's up man?"
I couldn't figure out why or how this person knew me or why he' chose this particular circumstance to chat. It goes against my personal policies.

Even Spaulding kids knew of Ms. Atsie!

I didn't grow up in the town limits of Nashville but rather about 10 minutes south of here.
Due to living about 6 yards on the opposite side of a school district line - I attended Spaulding Middle School in the 70s. I recall that many of us were very aware that students at W.L. Greene Middle School were lucky enough to have a "candy store" near campus.

Knights Explode Vs. NC

RED OAK -- It has been a long time since the level of excitement currently surrounding the Northern Nash football program was in effect, and you could sense that feeling in their air last Thursday night when the Knights hosted across-the-bridge rival Nash Central in Big East Conference action.
