Council tables Drake Street reversal

Nashville's Town Council is reconsidering converting Drake Street back into a two-way street.
Council members approved a request last March from Nash County to permanently close a portion of West Elm Street and North Court Street to expand the Nash County Detention Center. The street closures were contingent upon Nash County paying the cost to convert Drake Street from a one-way street to a two-way street allowing Vale, Drake and Court Street residents to access their residences via Drake Street.

Nash County man charged with having drugs delivered to him

Authorities say a Rocky Mount man expected drugs to be delivered to his door, but didn't think an undercover Nash County deputy would be delivering the package.
Federal courts have upheld convictions in similar cases where defendants claimed violation of their Constitutional rights, specifically the Fourth Amendment.
Deshawn Jaquan Copeland, 27, faces charges of trafficking cocaine by possession, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance after a deputy posing as a FedEx driver delivered a package full of cocaine to him, said Maj. When our dreams don't come true

"Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in his house, and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies all around, that the king said to Nathan the prophet, 'See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent curtains.' Then Nathan said to the king, 'Go, do all that is in your heart, for the Lord is with you'." (2 Samuel 7:1-3)
I love turning to Scripture in times of doubt and disappointment.

Never-ending. We have been told that animal rescue work is like emptying the ocean with a spoon. Truth!
Our volunteers went in on Thursday to take photos and videos of the pets needing lifesaving solutions. When they arrived, every single dog kennel had a dog and in two kennels, there were two dogs. Not just strays, but also lots of owner surrenders.

A Christmas miracle? Or maybe not!

I didn't think I'd been gone out of the house that long. I walked through the kitchen and into the living room and to investigate an odd light just around the corner -- it was a Christmas tree.
"What in the wide world of sports is going on?" I asked.
I don't remember if it was my daughter, youngest son, or great-sometimes-mediocre nephew who answered, "We decided to put the Christmas tree up."
