Nash County Animal Friends' Notebook

FACT ~ $$$ creates breeders, often puppy mill or backyard. Their unsold stock, once they are old and unproductive or not cute anymore or don't have the look, will often end up in Shelters, dumped on the road or worse. Don't buy and encourage this cruelty. ADOPT. Mind you, there are responsible breeders out there of show quality dogs, but there are few of those. Those will do health testing and more. If one doesn't qualify as show quality, they will fix before selling.

Hectic lifestyles can displace priorities

"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed." (Luke 10:41-42)
Many of us are seeking more balance in our lives. So much so, it is one of our most popular resolutions for the New Year.
Our yearning for more peace in our lives doesn't surprise me. It's because we live in a world where peace is yearned everywhere.

Intersections: God and Life

Have you ever reflected on your life and where you are headed?
"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither.

How a dad can figure out his true age

On Father's Day, an idea dawned on me for a self-help book that is sure to make millions or at least dozens of dollars and one Soapbox column, if not more.
If you're thinking I'm a little late on this topic -- seeing as how Father's Day was last weekend -- that is just how my life goes.
We're hardly ever to church on time. I took 36 semesters off before deciding to go to graduate school. My wife Kristi is just as bad -- all three of her babies were late deliveries.

I would love to see downtown on canvas!

I was highly impressed with the oil painting of Red Oak Elementary School crafted by Rochelle Bass of Nashville. When opening photos of the art this week, the first thing that came to mind was we certainly need this done for downtown Nashville. Our historic structures dating back to 1912 and earlier are the centerpiece of Nashville. We've lost several buildings which were beautiful examples of early 1900s architecture.
A couple of our existing structures have been updated and a couple are at risk of being demolished.

NORTHERN NASH'S LAUREN MILLIGAN
SENIOR SUPERSTARS

RED OAK -- When they collectively arrived on campus four years ago, little did members of Northern Nash High School's incoming boys athletic class know they long-term historical impact they would have.
Simply put, that class developed into one of the best all-around groups NN has ever seen -- and the now-seniors went out in style during the 2022-23 school year by winning Big East Conference boys championships in football, cross country, basketball, indoor track, outdoor track and baseball.

CUP CLAIMERS
