Nash County Animal Friends' Notebook

Last week was a rough week. The Shelter had to basically close to intakes of dogs which made people mad. They just asked people to wait. Thats all. The thing is, if you surrender your dog when the shelter's kennels are all full, it can be euthanized immediately. Or they will have to euthanize another probably adoptable dog to make room. PLEASE wait till they are less crowded. If it is a stray, they will have to keep for 3 business days waiting for an owner to reclaim.

Facing the trials of life with joy

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds." (James 1:2)
Our five-year old grandson is so excited about learning how to fish. Recently, he came in the house with tears in his eyes. Easton went straight to his mamaw and got up in her lap. He said he wasn't going to go fishing again until he was 16. He told her that he got his hook stuck in the tree twice while trying to cast it into the lake.

Intersections: God and Life

A flight attendant told her pastor about the harrowing events of a recent flight. Severe weather required an emergency landing. She was responsible for preparing the cabin for a possible crash landing. The pastor asked how passengers reacted to these frightening events.
"From my vantage point," she answered, "It looked like they were making last-minute deals with God." What were you doing?" the pastor asked. She replied, "I was thanking God I did not have to make any last-minute deals with God."

My sweating took up right where it left off

My sweating has taken up right where it left off last year.
I heard someone say it had gotten right hot lately. I don't know if that person has been out of the country or what. I've been hot since March. It's just gotten $#@% hot recently.
It has been a mild summer so far. To clarify: I don't care what the calendar says, summer in North Carolina starts in April. Third week of June?

Not a broken record, just the "rest of the story"

It still amazes me how many folks actually rely on social media for their news. And it shows.
Just recently I had a few "you're kidding me, right?" moments during conversations.
One conversation was regarding the newly constructed Pet Connection Center which will serve as the new location of the Nash County Animal Shelter. The people in the conversation had no clue such a facility was in the works. Actually it's close to opening.
