Nash County Animal Friends' Notebook

PLEA going out to the CAT LOVERS. Do NOT get a kitten unless you plan to FIX IT before it goes outside!!! Heck, fix it even if indoors, because they DO get out, it is healthier for them and makes for better behavior too! Note that the only safe cat is an indoor cat. Once outside there are tons of dangers. Add to that, if not fixed, their offspring will become wilder (more feral) with each generation.

Doubt affects all of us from time to time

"He who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind." (James 1:6)
If the truth were ever told about the effect that doubt could have in your life, the above verse hits the nail on the head.
Here's something else that's true about doubt. It usually occurs in the life of a believer. So don't be discouraged when doubt comes your way. It's never a permanent condition, and the irony of doubt is that it always brings with it an opportunity to grow closer to God.

Intersections: God and Life

On February 12, 1728, was Cotton Mather's sixty-fifth birthday. The Puritan minister would breathe his last the following day. Until the previous year, Mather had never experienced any serious health challenges. He used all his strength to live in fruitful service to the Lord. His signet ring had a fruit-bearing tree and Psalm 1:3 inscribed on it. On the last day of his life, his son Samuel asked his dying father for a final word of counsel. Mather said one word: "Fruitful."
Fruitfulness was Mather's consuming passion in life and death. It should be the same for every follower of Christ.

What percent are you giving and is it enough

We're heading full throttle into sportsball season, which means it is time to prepare for the assault on the English language known as cliches.
Football has started, baseball is heading into the playoff stretch, and hockey and basketball are just a month away. Don't forget soccer is in full swing, as is golf and NASCAR. Tennis just wrapped the U.S. Open.
So, we need to lock and load on the front lines and try to stay out of no man's land, knowing we have to bite the bullet.

Seasons change in life too

Before you know, it'll be time for the 2024 Nashville Blooming Festival! I know it seems way to early to think about the 2024 event, but really - it's not. We typically begin planning the festival a few months before the Spring Hope Pumpkin Festival and Spring Hope begins their planning around the time of our festival.
I've been quite a fortunate person for over 25 years while volunteering with the Nashville Blooming Festival. The smartest thing I ever did was find super talented folks to co-chair and volunteer!
