Hazel Winstead Ricks, 83, passed away Monday, January 31, 2011 following a short illness. She was born December 20, 1927 in Nash County, daughter of the late Joseph Walter Winstead and Iva Pearl Sherrod Winstead.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Ricks; brother, Marvin Winstead; and sister, Mabel W. Baker.
She is survived by her sister, Beulah W. Price of Rocky Mount, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 03, 2011 in the chapel at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Westlund officiating. Visitation with the family was from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
