NASHVILLE – Arthur Glenn Barnes, 71, died Saturday, May 13, 2006. He was born in Johnston County to the late Walter J. and Flossie Bass Barnes., He was preceded in death by his wife, Helga Treasure Barnes; sisters Fannie Leigh Nines and Christine Lewis; and brothers Chester, Joseph, Walter Jr., George and Robert Barnes.

Survivors include his daughters, Tina Aycock and husband David of Nashville, Diana Whitehurst and husband Paul of Kenly; sisters Mary Virginia Barnes of Kenly, Dora Parks of Charlotte, and Betty Owens of Matthews; brothers Jessie Lester Barnes Steve Russell Barnes, both of Wilson; his best friend and beloved pet, J.R.; and one grandchild.

The family received friends at Johnson Funerals and Cremations. A gathering to celebrate his life was to be held graveside at 2 p.m. today at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Harold Swinson officiating. Condolences may be sent to www.johnsonfuneralsandcremations.com.
