MELVIN JACKSON KING
Melvin Jackson King, age 79, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012.  Born in Currituck County on July 16, 1932, he was the son of the late William Arthur King and Maggie Wilcox King.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Stanley Ray King and grandson, Jackson Braswell King.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Frances Aycock King; daughters, Nancy King Weaver and husband James; Beverly King Parrish and husband Jeff, both of Nashville; son, Dennis Floyd King of Nashville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Linwood King and Bunnie King; and three sisters, Annie Tisdale, Candy Harris, and Louise Leith.

A service to remember Melvin was held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Smith officiating.  A committal service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday morning, March 02, 2012 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
