CLARENCE WILLIAM CLAY
Clarence William Clay, 77, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012. He was born on August 29, 1934 in Dameron WV. He was the son of the late Andrew Marvin Clay and Frances Marie Workman Clay. Clarence was preceded in death by his infant son, Richard Lee Clay; son, Timothy Wayne Clay; brothers, James Connie Clay and J. Edgar Clay; sister, Lillian Toney; and brother-in-law, Jackie Randall Riffe.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth Parham Clay; two sons, Terry Layne Clay of Youngsville and David Bryan Clay, Sr. and wife Roberta of Concord VA; five step-children, Susan D. Laney and husband Russell of Grand Prairie TX, Debra D. Merritt and husband Billy of Rocky Mount, Gregory Layne Dildy and wife Frances of Rocky Mount, Patricia D. Weaver and husband Randy of Sharpsburg and Stuart Craig Dildy and wife Carol of Rocky Mount; three grandchildren;  9 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Calfee Clay and wife Donnie of Beckley WV; sister, Wanzie Clay Riffe of Lower Sandlick WV; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to remember Clarence was held Monday, April 23, 2012 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Pastor Walt Cooper officiating.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 3124 Zebulon Road, Rocky Mount NC 27804.

Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount.
