Charles Jackson Gilley, age 81, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013. Born in Catawba County on February 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Joseph Hudson Gilley and Era Hendricks Gilley. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Hudson Gilley Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bobbie Carpenter Gilley; sons, Charles J. “Chuck” Gilley Jr. and wife Jennifer of Wilmington and Stephen M. Gilley and wife Gina of Rocky Mount; four grandchildren.
A service was held Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Englewood Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Wolf and Rev. Ricky Sorie officiating. A small graveside service will take place on Wednesday in Hickory NC.
