Odes Warren Newton, 90, passed Wednesday, January 15, 2014.

He was born July 2, 1923 in Casar, NC. He was the son of the late William Nolan and Zulie Wall Newton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Lambert Newton; brothers, Cletus Newton and Malon Newton; and his sisters, Viller Richards, Mittie Taylor and Viola Vinay.

He is survived by his daughters; Martha Newton Eatmon and husband, Alan of Raleigh, and Patricia Newton DeGruchy and husband, Phil (Pete) of Raleigh; three grandchildren;  brother Ernest Newton; sister Fannie Newton Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held  Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home with Pastor Leonard Rex officiating. Burial was  at Pineview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Building Fund, 15772 NC 50 North, Garner, NC 27529.
