Virginia Lupton Knowles passed away May 26, 2014. She was born in Suffolk, Virginia on December 26, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Lee Blount Lupton and Mattie Matthews Lupton of Rocky Mount. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Mr. Melvin Dixon Knowles.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Knowles Joyner and her husband Anthony W. Joyner; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral service was held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church,  Rocky Mount followed by a graveside service at Pineview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Life Care, founded as Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh NC 27607.
