Mary Anne Wooten

Mary Anne Wooten, beloved Wife of Allen Wooten, departed her earthly life and ascended into Heaven on Wednesday June 28, 2017 with her husband by her side. She was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie H. Baines, who was the joy of her life. She was the second daughter born to James Weldon & Addie Murray Medlin on December 08, 1934. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brothers, James, Jewel, & Phillip Medlin, and her beloved sisters Margie Matthews & Joan Ward.

Mary Anne was a full time Homemaker & Decorator, devoting many hours to maintaining and decorating the home she shared with her husband, Allen Wooten, for almost thirty-nine years. She leaves many cherished memories with her husband, from building their marriage, to cooking & decorating in the home, to skydiving (completing nine jumps), flying with her husband in a Cessna 172, power boating, water skiing (driving the boat) & just enjoying Lake Gaston, and traveling adventures to such places as New York, Chicago, Chattanooga, Asheville, Charlotte, Orlando, and many enjoyable day trips.

Mary Anne was a very active Member of Arlington Baptist Church for twenty-nine years, serving on and chairing the Decorating, Baptismal, & Pictorial Committees. She loved to sing and was a full time Member of the Adult Choir, serving as Secretary for many years. Her notable quote was our "Lord & God puts no more on you than you can handle."

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Allen Wooten, of the home and the following nephews & nieces and their spouses: Jimmy & Jimmie Jean Medlin of Grimesland, NC; Gloria & Johnny Batts of Greenville, NC; Dr. Bobby Matthews of Baton Rouge, LA; Steve Matthews of Rocky Mount, NC; Tim & Betsy Matthews of Lexington, KY; Carol & Woody Sessoms of Concord, NC; Wayne Medlin, of Dunn, NC; Robin & David Gratz of N. Charleston, SC; Mark Ward of Nashville, NC; Jason Williams of Wilmington, NC; and Gene Langley, Jr., of Rocky Mount, NC. She is also survived by her sister In-law Ellen Langley & husband, Gene, of Rocky Mount, NC.

A Wake will be conducted at her home church, Arlington Baptist Church, at 1500 Bethlehem Road, Rocky Mount, NC Friday night June 30, 2017 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM. Services to honor Mary Anne Wooten will be conducted at her home church, Arlington Baptist Church on Saturday Morning July 01, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Joe Leonard and Reverend Phillip Coates officiating. Interment will follow at the conclusion of the Funeral Service on Saturday July 01, 2017 at the Rocky Mount Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial donations may be made to the Arlington Baptist Church Building Fund.
