Lillie Strickland Wood Barnes of Rocky Mount, NC passed away on August 6,2017 at her home. Lillie was born in Nash County near Spring Hope, NC on June 20, 1925 to the late Charlie Calvin and Minnie Creekmore Strickland. She married the late Benjamin Curtis Wood and lived in the Seven Paths Community for 60 plus years. She was also preceded in death by her son, Keith Wood, and a brother Charlie B. Strickland.

A Memorial Service will be held on August 20, at 2:00 PM at Old Carriage Road Baptist Church, 1060 N. Old Carriage Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Pastor William Harper officiating. Lillie is survived by her husband, Dallas L. Barnes of Rocky Mount, NC, her son, Curtis "Mike" Wood and wife Annette of Spring Hope, NC. She is also survived by three grandchildren Chris Wood and wife Brandy, Heather Ferguson and husband Joe, and Micheala Wood; great grandchildren, Madelyn, Tyler and Taylor Ferguson, Harper Dean, McKenzie and Matthew Gupton; sisters, Vernelle S. Dickerson of Raleigh, NC, Lula Belle S. Strum of Spruce Pines, NC, and Shirley S. Forehand and her husband West of Wake Forest, NC. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Special thanks to Lillie's caregiver, Mary Kearney, for the loving care that she gave to her for the last years of her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Old Carriage Road Baptist Church, 1060 N. Old Carriage Rd, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
