Beverly Greene Adcock

Mrs. Beverly Greene Adcock, 83, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Dewey Bryan (Captain Jack) and Lillian Calhoun Greene. She was predeceased by her sons Wilton Lee III and James Greene Adcock as well as a brother Dewey Calhoun (Jackie) Greene.

Mrs. Adcock was a lifelong resident of the Salem Community and a charter member of Salem Baptist Church where she served as church clerk for thirty years. She was a 1952 graduate of Red Oak High School and received her AB degree from William and Mary where she was a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity. She taught school, primarily first and second grades for many years at both Red Oak and Enfield Academy.

She is survived by her husband Wilton Lee Adcock, Jr. of the home as well as son Dewey Calhoun (Cal) and wife Julie of Apex. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Emily and Anna Adcock of Raleigh, two nephews Bryan Greene (Karen) of Peachtree GA. and Jack Greene (Debbie) of Greensboro, sister in law Katherine Shearin of Greesboro, special friend Louise K. Dyke of Georgetown, TX. and the Maggie Johnson family of the Salem Community.

Visitation was held Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Salem Community Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Monday, October 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Salem Community Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
