Peggy Joyner

Peggy Joyner, 71, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh. She was born in Edgecombe County, August 16, 1946 to the late Earl Wayne and Evelyn Batts Rhea. Peggy was a graduate of Coopers High School, class of 1964 and worked as a bookkeeper and secretary.

Peggy loved her family, fishing, reading and working outside. She had a quiet faith and was devoted and dedicated to her family. She never used the word "no" to her family and was loved and adored by all who knew her. She was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Vickrey.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Al Joyner; sons Brian Joyner (Tammy), Rodney Joyner (Shannon), Christopher Joyner (Kimberly); grandchildren Logan, Chesney, Delaney and River Joyner; brother, Jimmie Rhea (Phyllis) sister, Janie Lindsey (Larry) and beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Braziel officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Wilson.

Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 3131 RDU Center Dr. #100, Morrisville, NC 27560.
