Lawrence Ernest Alford, age 85, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018. Born in Franklin County on June 6, 1932, he was the son of the late Lawrence "Jake" Sydney Alford and Katie "Chick" Elizabeth Moore. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sadie Mae Alford Pridgen.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucille Wrenn Alford; daughters, Quinn Thomas of Raleigh, Cheryl Bentley of Rocky Mount, and Marcie Daniels and husband, Charlie, of Ft. Worth, TX; three grandchildren, Miles Alford, Marlie Daniels, and Amberlie Daniels.

A Private Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018.
