ROCKY MOUNT - Mary Ruth Messer Viverette, age 93, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018. Born in Nash County on April 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Shade Messer and Lucy Bone Messer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Edward Viverette, Sr.; and eight brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Willie Edward Viverette, Jr. and wife, Diane, of Chesnee, SC and Dennis Ray Viverette of Rocky Mount. She is also survived by five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sister, Farbie Pittman of Rocky Mount; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
