Mildred Roberson Collins

MILDRED ROBERSON COLLINS

Mildred Roberson Collins, 96, passed away on January 7, 2019 in Bedford, Texas after a brief illness.

Mildred was born August 20, 1922 in Nashville, North Carolina to Ophelia and Walter G. Roberson and was the last of seven siblings to pass. She took great pride in her supportive role as wife/counsel to her husband and as loving and devoted mother to her two sons.

Mildred was married to Fred T. Collins Jr. (deceased) for 62 years. Fred's career with GE included 19 years in Houston, then to Dallas for the last 12 years. They happily moved to Pecan Plantation near Granbury in 1989 enjoying retirement and being active members to Acton Baptist Church. After Fred's death in 2006, Mildred continued to live in Pecan until moving into an independent living residence, first in Granbury, then spending her last 6 years at Parc Place Retirement in Bedford. She was always known for her cheerful greetings and friendly banter. Mildred continued with her great determination to live independently, and to be a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a great friend to many, right up to her last days.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Fred and Madeline Collins of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Hobart and Martha Collins of Bozeman, Montana. She was loved by four grandchildren; Casey Collins (Sari) of Grapevine, Texas, Kimberly Vidaurri (Jon) of North Richland Hills, David Collins (Caroline) of Golden, Colorado, and Jamie Collins of Bozeman, Montana. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren; Madeline Vidaurri of North Richland Hills, Texas and Liam Collins of Grapevine, Texas.

There will be a Memorial Service celebrating her life on February 9, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Ridge Funeral Home Memorial Park Chapel, 8525 Mid-Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills, Texas 76182 (forestridge-fh.com).

Lunch will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to Lottie Moon Missions (give.imb.org) or Texas Baptist Men (tbmtx.org). (paid obituary)
