Joel Gorham Lindsey
Joel Gorham Lindsey, 62, passed away August 28, 2006. He was born in Nash Co. He was the son of the late William Haywood and Maggie Taylor Lindsey. Joel attended Macedonia Baptist Church. He served his country proudly in Vietnam. He was a blessing to those who really knew him and a loss to those who didn't. Joel was a loving and supporting father, brother, grandfather, and devoted husband and soul mate. He was always forgiving and never judgmental and will truly be missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Kay Winstead.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of ten years, Judy C. Lindsey; two daughters, Lisa Lindsey of Rocky Mount, Jody Lindsey of Cary; one son, David Sutton and wife Laura of Nashville; two sisters, Shirley Pridgen and husband Gene of Spartanburg, SC, Janice Walters of Greenville; two brothers, Donald Lindsey and wife Rosa Lee of Germantown, MD, Tommy Lindsey and wife Terry of Nashville; one uncle, Roy Taylor of Nashville; several nieces and nephews; one grandson, David Sutton; special friends, Mary Baker, James Marlow and his faithful and loving companion Gus.

The family received friends at Bowling Funeral Home of Rocky Mount from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2006. A memorial service will be held at the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 10:00 am with the Rev. Ron Hawley officiating. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 11 South Boylan Ave. Suite 221, Raleigh, NC 27603. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowling Funeral Home & Crematory, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
