William Clifton "WC" Duke
ROCKY MOUNT, NC- William Clifton "WC" Duke, 76, died Sunday, September 3, 2006. He was born on February 26, 1930 in Nash County, son of the late Joseph W. and Viola Enroughtry Duke. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eldon Wayne Duke, Dewey Vann Duke.

Mr. Duke is survived by his son Samuel "Sammy" Carl Duke of Rocky Mount; long time caregiver and companion of 16 years, Sharon E. Joyner of Nashville; sisters Virginia D. Moss and Shirley D. Staton and husband Wiley all of Rocky Mount, Frances D. Dunn and husband Freddie of Nashville; brothers, Swindell Duke, Kenneth Duke both of Rocky Mount., along with several nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends, and his faithful canine companion "Lady".

Mr. Duke served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, upon his return he served on the Honor Guard at the VFW post #2057.

WC was a member of Beulah Church of Christ, and Rocky Mount Christian Church, he was active in a variety of clubs; the Elk's Lodge, The Moose Lodge, a driver and member of the Momeyer Senior Citizens Club, along with the Twin County Sam's Camping Club. He enjoyed dancing and traveling.

Funeral services were held at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home, Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at 11:00 am. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery, Nashville. Flowers are accepted and memorials may be made to, Momeyer Senior Citizens, c/o Momeyer Baptist Church, 4967 Momeyer way, Nashville, NC 27856.
