John Gilliam Hardy
John Gilliam Hardy, 87, passed away Friday, September 15, 2006. He was born September 28, 1918 in Halifax County, son of the late William Robert and Georgianna Gardner Hardy. He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Betty Hale and husband Bonnie, William Hardy and wife Margaret, Leo Hardy, Leah Clark and husband Claude, Gertrude Morris and husband Thurman and brother-in-law, Dave Benton. He was a long time farmer in the North Nashville Community and in later years a long distance truck driver for Hardee's Food System. He served in the US Army during WWII for four years in the Rhineland Theatre and was a charter member of the original North Nashville Ruitan Club.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 63 years, Maebelle Hardy, three sons, Wayne Hardy and wife Diane, Wilbur Pendleton and wife Mary Helen, both of Nashville, Louis Pendleton and wife Peggy of Rocky Mount; sister, Mary Benton of Columbia, Missouri, two brothers, Sam Hardy and wife Dorothy , Lloyd Hardy and wife Pat, all of Nashville, sister in law, Vivian Hardy of Rocky Mount, nine grandchildren, Teresa Thomas and husband J.T., Glenda Davis and husband Paul, Dawn Pittman and husband, Don, Lisa Wells and husband Todd, Katherine (Kitten) Mitchell and husband, Mike, Linda Sheets and husband, Wesley, Kristi Cooper and husband, Pat, Melissa Cooper and husband, Chris, Tracy Hardy and fiancé, Charlie Sledge, twelve great grandchildren, Chad Thomas, Priscilla Pittman, Katie Thomas, Christian Davis, Tyler Pittman, Tyler Wells, Meredith Davis, Conner Mitchell, Sydney Mitchell, Kierstin Cooper, Wyatt Cooper and Jake Cooper.

Special thanks to Autumn Care of Nashville and their staff and a special thanks to Dr. Bello's with Boice Willis Clinic of Nashville.

Funeral Services were Sunday, September 17, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowling Funeral Home. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery in Nashville.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Beulah Church of Christ, 450 E. Beulah Road, Nashville, N.C. 27856.
