EMOGENE SHERROD MURRAY
Emogene Sherrod Murray, 74, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010. She was born June 4, 1936 in Nash County. Emogene was the daughter of the late, Jimmy D. and Alma B. Lamm Sherrod. Emogene was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Murray, son, Jimmie “Pete” Summerlin and step-daughter, Sheila Brown.

She is survived by two brothers, Jimmie B. Sherrod and wife Nancy of Elm City, John E. Sherrod of Nashville, two sisters, Joan Gay and husband Rex of Newport News, Va., Jowyanne Stoddard and husband Chuck of Spring Hope, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home with the Rev. Reuben Batchelor officiating. Visitation followed after the service. Committal Service was Friday, September 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park of Wilson, NC.

Arrangements are entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home and Cremations, 1052 South First Street, Nashville, NC 27856.
