ROCKY MOUNT – Lancey Herbert Winstead, 86, died Thursday, June 7, 2007. A gathering to celebrate his life was held Sunday at Johnson Funerals and Cremations. Burial followed in Samaria Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was born March 16, 1921 to the late Samuel and Ila Perry Winstead. He was preceded in death by his wife, Allice Estelle Murray Winstead, one sister and four brothers.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Bennie Morgan of Middlesex; sisters, Lizzie Murray of Rolesville, Dollie Whitley of Zebulon and Velora Leslie of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren.
