Thomas D. Artis, Sr., 78, of Whitakers, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017. Wake services will be held Thursday, August 10, from 5-7 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home in Nashville. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 11th from the Bunn Chapel Baptist Church in Nashville. Burial will follow in the Song Bird Haven Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Phillips, of the home; daughters, Katherine Alston (Bertram) of Nashville, Shirley Moore (Marvin) of Rocky Mount, Carolyn Worley (David) of Rocky Mount, Rose Artis (Fred) of Castalia, Joketha Maryland of the home; son, Thomas D. Artis, Jr. of Rocky Mount; stepsons, Ronnie Maryland of Rocky Mount, Anthony Maryland (Tina) of Raleigh, Cliff Maryland of Rocky Mount; sister, Annie Ruth Artis of Nashville; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
