John "Shorty" Thomas Baines age 77 passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. John was born in Nash County on December 13th, 1939 to Luther and Beatrice Baines. John was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Bobby, Billy and Frankie, one sister Joyce and one great granddaughter Madalynn Ivey Jones.
He is survived by his wife Anna Bowden Baines of 58 years; his sons David Baines (Sandee), Randy Baines (Kelly), two daughters Brenda Baines Johnson (David), and Millie Baines Braswell (Gene), one brother Richard "Ricky" (Rebecca); two sisters Diane Flowers and Elaine Price (James); fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren;
A funeral service was held Sunday, November 5, 2017 in the Chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery.
