Susan Matthews Tyson, 71, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017. She was born in Nash County on October 17, 1946 to the late Van Buren and Lucy Davis Matthews. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother Phillip Matthews and a sister Dorothy M. Rich.

She is survived by her husband Andrew Tyson; daughter Lori Volpe (Tom); son Jeffery Tyson( Sharon); five grandchildren; and a sister JoEllen Burgess (Ray).

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Price officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
