James Richard Hamlett, 74, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017. He was born June 26, 1943 in Danville, Virginia to the late John Eugene and Mary Corum Hamlett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, John Eugne Hamlett II and granddaughter, Lily Claire Langley.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Connie Hamlett; one son, James Richard Hamlett II and wife Amy; four daughters, Dawn Turner and husband Bruce, Ashlie Waters and husband Shane, Brandyce Perry and husband Glenn, Christian Langley and husband Travis; one sister, Joy Roberts, 14 grandchildren.

Visitation with family and friends will be Monday, December 4, 2017 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Church on the Rise Rocky Mount Campus with a celebration service to follow at 7 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Richard Gurganus officiating.
