Velma "Toni" Othelle Griffin, age 90, of Rocky Mount, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018. Born in Nash County on January 17, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Clee and Eleanor Powell Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James William "Giggi" Griffin; and brother, Brodious Edwards.

She is survived by her daughter, Jan Griffin Peele and husband, Bert, of Rocky Mount; sisters, Elsie Coppedge of Rocky Mount, Mary Leigh Wood of Spring Hope, Joyce Pace of Tarboro; brother, Clem Edwards of Rocky Mount.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Pastor Mike Dixon, Rev. Joe Price, and Toni's nephew, Rev. Michael Edwards officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum. Visitation with the family will be from 10 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
