Gerald S. Costen, Sr. age 63 of Castalia, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019.

A mass was held Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Rocky Mount. Interment followed at Spring Hope Memorial Gardens, Spring Hope.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Costen of Castalia; two children, Gerald Costen, Jr. (Shahama) of Wilson, Shirleyse Haley (Marcquez) of Lawrenceville, GA; three stepsons, Jabari Richardson (Vicky) of Raleigh, Antione Alston (Vanessa) of Spring Hope, Monta Alston (Kristen) of Dudly; two sisters, Pamela Daniels (Joseph), and Jackie Dickens of Rocky Mount; two sisters-in-law, Carol and Diane and two brothers-in-law, Steve and Lorenzo; one uncle; two aunts; ten grandchildren, five nieces, one great-niece.
