ROCKY MOUNT - Hermer Lee "Bill" Stancil, age 84, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019. Born in Nash County on September 26, 1934, he was the son of the late Eddie Nathaniel Stancil and Naomi Bobbitt Stancil. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Margie Stancil Strickland; and brothers, Durrell and Roger Stancil.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Stephens Stancil of Rocky Mount; his daughter, Jenny Joyner Cash and her husband, Wesley, of Rocky Mount; and son Fred Stancil and his wife, Diane, of Apex; three grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Laura Wittman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 10 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
