NN RUNS TO GLORY

WENDELL -- Heading into Week One of the high school football season, Northern Nash Head Coach Andrew Farriss stressed the importance of his team being able to run the ball.
That proved to be evident on Monday night, as the Northern Nash Knights coasted to a 39-12 win over East Wake off a dominant rushing attack that was engineered by newcomer Amir Pittman-Williams.

Birds Fly Past Eagles

STANHOPE -- One play was all it took for Southern Nash to flex the offensive muscle during last Friday's regular season football opener at home against the Warren County Eagles.
On that decisive play, SN quarterback Matt Foster took a shotgun snap and went himself off the right side -- and sped untouched into the end zone.

Inductees selected at NCWC

ROCKY MOUNT -- The purpose of the North Carolina Wesleyan College Athletics Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor those individuals, who through their superior athletic achievements or by their outstanding service, have made long-lasting, exemplary contributions to the college.
Beginning with its inaugural class in 1999, Wesleyan has bestowed this honor upon 70 former athletes, administrators, and coaches who created a higher standard for our Bishops.

Mudcats fall at 5 County

ZEBULON -- The Carolina Mudcats loaded the bases with one out in the ninth inning of action, but Wes Rogers and Payton Henry both struck out with the bases loaded in the final frame as host Carolina failed to score again in a 4-3 series-opening loss to Fayetteville at Five County Stadium on Monday night in a Class A Carolina League baseball matchup.
