Rematch Goes To Lady Knights

RED OAK -- Given the way their initial meeting of the season went, Northern Nash and Bunn were destined to once again go down to the wire Tuesday in Big East Conference girls basketball action.
Earlier in the year, Bunn built a substantial lead over the Knights, only to see Northern Nash rally in the closing minutes before falling just short.

RED OAK -- After his club's slow start to the season, Northern Nash boys basketball coach Henry Drake has pushed all the right buttons to bring his Fighting Knights back into contention in the always-tough Big East Conference.
Northern Nash started with a 1-4 record -- albeit with two of those losses coming to state powerhouse Farmville Central -- before finding its groove.

A RUN TO GLORY

STANHOPE -- Jadiza Jimenez began her run to glory as a freshman at Southern Nash High School -- and she hasn't stopped since.
That long-distance journey will continue the next four years -- but Jimenez won't be running away too far from home.
Instead, Jimenez has signed a letter-of-intent to continue her track and field and cross country career at North Carolina Central University, which is located in Durham.

NCWC wins versus Peace

ROCKY MOUNT -- The North Carolina Wesleyan College men's basketball used a big 50-point first half last Wednesday night to roll to a 79-57 home conference victory over William Peace University.
The home win was the Bishops' first game in Rocky Mount in over one month and improved them to 10-4 on the season and 2-1 in the USA South Conference.

Wolfpack ranked 16th in preseason

RALEIGH -- The North Carolina State University baseball program garnered another national preseason ranking on Monday morning, as it checks in at No. 16 on Baseball America's poll.
This is the third national poll ahead of the 2022 season that the Wolfpack is ranked in the top 20, as it is ranked No. 7 on Perfect Game's and No. 10 on DI Baseball's preseason polls.

ECU nabs preseason national ranking

GREENVILLE -- The East Carolina University baseball program picked up its fourth preseason national ranking of the 2022 season after garnering a No. 15 standing by Baseball America, the publication announced Monday morning.
The Pirates, who were picked as the preseason favorite to win the American Athletic Conference by the leagues head coaches, also have been ranked No. 8 by Collegiate Baseball, No. 12 by D1Baseball and No. 13 by Perfect Game.
