Fire destroys Spring Hope building

A Spring Hope manufacturing plant was destroyed in an immense fire last Saturday night.
The Spring Hope Fire Department along with multiple other fire departments and agencies were called 11:30 p.m. on May 14 to JHRG Manufacturing, located at 303 South Pine Street.

BRAKE
Brake wins Democrat bid for Sheriff's race

Nash County Democrat voters chose David Brake in Tuesday's primary as their candidate to run in the November sheriff's race.
Brake won the Democratic ticket with 5,978 votes (77.40%) against Joseph Grimes who captured 1,746 votes (22.60%).
Brake, a retired major with the Nash County Sheriff's Office, will face Sheriff Keith Stone, (R) on the ballot in November.

Castalia's July 4th gets green light

The town of Castalia will carry on with its annual Fourth of July celebration this year.
Chairwoman of the town's Fourth of July Committee Belinda Davis said the town is in a good place to move forward with festivities.
"So far, everything has been going smooth," she said.

An event started during the COVID-19 pandemic has become a tradition in the Red Oak community.
The Northern Nash High School Class of 2022 Parade was held on Sunday, May 15 with seniors parading through town with family, friends and the community cheering them on.

County meets with state lawmakers

The Nash County Board of Commissioners presented members of the N.C General Assembly with a list of issues the county is facing.
The board examined the topics over dinner May 11 to state Sen. Lisa Barnes and state Rep. James Gailliard who both represent Nash County.
Commissioners discussed six legislative issues that are affecting the county.

Boys & Girls Clubhouse offers summer program

The Nashville Boys & Girls Area Clubhouse is offering a fun, yet educational, summer program for children ages five through 18.
The summer program will be held at Nash Central Middle School from June 13 until August 19. It will be weekly on Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Nashville Boys & Girls Area Clubhouse Director Troi Thomas said the summer program keeps children engaged and wanting to come back for more.

Town of Nashville thanks Denton for his service

Town Council members and citizens of the Town of Nashville are used to seeing Public Utilities Superintendent Ronnie Denton in his town uniform but on Tuesday night, Denton wore a different outfit: his retirement clothes.
Denton officially retired on March 31 after serving 10 years in the town's public works department.

The Rocky Mount Debu-ette Club has announced its 2022 seniors.
The organization, which emphasizes volunteer work in the community, is comprised of girls in the ninth through the 12th grades. The Debu-ette Club has long lasting deep friendships to these young, hard-working women, while allowing them to grow together as leaders in civic and social affairs.

Peacemakers to spin off housing arm

"In my circle, I'll be the first," said Priscillia Duncan with a mixture of pride and excitement about the opportunity to become a first-time homeowner. Ms. Duncan is a resident of the South Rocky Mount Community, and a participant in the Homeownership Program operated by Peacemakers. "When my sons get out there into the world, I just want to have a place that they can always know is home," said Duncan.

Nash UNC Health Care to host annual Healthy Heart Fair

Nash UNC Health Care is hosting its fourth annual Healthy Heart Fair on June 2, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Nash Heart Center.
The purpose of the fair is to provide the community with healthy heart practices and helpful resources on how to deal with heart-related emergencies.
The fair will include various activities and informational booths located on the first and second floors of the Nash Heart Center.

Some of today's most popular evangelists are teaching a form of Christianity that doesn't line up with the Word of God. The word "prophet" in the above verse has kept a lot of Christians from also seeing that some of the preachers in the pulpit today are deceiving people.
