NASHVILLE - Nash Community College, currently home for two of Nash County Public School high schools, may be the future site of a new Health Sciences building- if funding and support can be secured. NCC's President, Lew Hunnicutt, says the high schools are part of the reason the new building is needed.
"It's a win for county, win for school system, and certainly is a win for the college," said Hunnicutt, about the concept of adding a new 35 square foot building for an estimated 22 million dollars.

My Sister's House served more than 2000 last year

NASHVILLE - Many crimes are blatant, pinpointed by sirens, flashing lights and seen or reported. Most, if not all, news outlets have crime stories, sometimes front and center. But more than 2,000 crisis calls coming into My Sister's House in Nash County last year document crimes that no one ever hears about, because domestic violence is "a hidden crime."
While October was Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, the crime isn't one that people talk about much - unless it happens to them or someone they know.

Nash commissioners approved plans during their Nov. 4 session for a Dollar General, to be built on a 1.95 lot located at the southwest corner of Stoney Hill Church Road and W. Hornes Church Road, just northwest of the Glover Milling Company.

The lull of everyday sin

The Bible teaches that satan is the "prince of the power of the air". (Ephesians 2:2) But the problem with satan is we don't recognize him when we see him.
The truth is satan will go to any extreme to make sure Christians don't recognize him or his works for what they really are. That's why the Bible points out, "For satan himself masquerades as angel of light". (II Corinthians 11:14)
We often don't associate many of the everyday things we do with sin, which shows just how good satan is a deceiving us.

Intersections: God and Life

Hebrews 4:16 says, "Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Old Testament references to the throne of God declare the holiness, glory, and sovereignty of God. In Christ, the throne of God is a fountain of grace and mercy. Yet it remains a throne. It is a seat of divine authority. It is the place from which God reigns over heaven and earth. Jesus says: Pray then like this: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come."

Planning the cost of Thanksgiving is not a science

I tell my students all the time that statistics can be manipulated to show whatever the writer wants.
Remember those old commercials that crowed about how 4 out of 5 dentists recommended people brush their teeth every day (or something like that)? Four out of five is like, totally, almost all.
But it's also 80 percent, which doesn't sound like an overwhelming number when we're talking about teeth.
