Dr. Thomas Carlton Pierce, 78, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014.  He was the son of the late Thomas Reggie Pierce and Annie Mae Smith Pierce. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Edsel Pierce, Hardy Pierce and Franklin Pierce and by one sister, Nina Pierce Bethune.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Wicker Pierce; five children, Dr. W. Brooks Pierce and his wife, Dr. Kristen McCue of University Park, Maryland, Wesley H. Pierce of Durham, Laura Pierce Smith and her husband, Travis S. Smith of Clayton, K. Judd Pierce of Greenville and Jessica G. Pierce of Raleigh; five grandchildren; and one sister, Marion Pierce Strahan and her husband, Ron Strahan of Nacogdoches, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Rocky Mount on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 10 a.m. A reception will be held immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 231 N. Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC or the Salvation Army, 420 Paul Street, Rocky Mount, NC.
