JAMES "SAMMY" JOHNSON

James "Sammy" Johnson, 69, of Whitakers, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016. Open visitation will be held Thursday, October 20 from 3-7 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home in Nashville. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 21 at 11 a.m. from the Swift Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Swift Creek Church Cemetery. The Rev. OD Sykes will officiate.
He is survived by his wife, May Johnson; daughter, Donne Sheaquita Hedgepeth of Knightdale; sons, Minister James S. Vinson (Arnesia) of Clayton, Marcus Danta Johnson (Stephanie) of Rocky Mount; sisters, Cornelia Richardson of Whitakers, Doris Staton (Alvin) of Rocky Mount, Bettie Pittman (Donald) of Whitakers, Gloria Johnson of Rocky Mount; brothers, Ollie Johnson, Jr. of Whitakers, Randolph Johnson of Whitakers, Johnnie Ray Johnson (Carolyn) of Rocky Mount, Joseph Johnson (Jeanette) of Hollister, Elder Charles E. Johnson (Velma) of Wilson; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.
