MARIE PATE COCKRELL

NASHVILLE - Marie Pate Cockrell, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Born in Johnston County on May 18, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Author Pate and Gladys Worley Pate. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Henry Cockrell, Sr., and her sons, Elbert Henry Cockrell, Jr., Willie Haywood Cockrell, David Wayne Cockrell, and John Randolph Cockrell.

Marie is survived by her sons, Michael Paul Cockrell (Sue), of Elm City, and Bobby Sherrill Cockrell (Jean), of Wendell; her daughter, Joanne Keen, of Dortches; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Brenda Mitchell (Woodrow).

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Rick Gaskins officiating. A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. in the Parlor of Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services prior to the service.
