NASHVILLE - John Richard Joyner, age 81, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023. Born in Nash County on September 7, 1941, he was the son of the late Adolphus Joyner and Lula Carter Joyner. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Joyner and George Joyner.

John is survived by his daughters, Pamela Collins (Michael) and Kathryn Williams (Ken), of Rocky Mount; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Margery Wester (Bernice), Judy Bunn (Mike) and Delilah Smith of Rocky Mount; brothers, Bobby Joyner (Becky) and William Joyner (Liz) of Rocky Mount.

A funeral service was held June 19, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Burial was at Wells Family Cemetery following the service.
